Indexing

I work as a back-of-the-book indexer for Swanson Indexing, a small firm in Iowa. This means I write the indexes in the back of non-fiction books. I do a lot of medical texts. These are usually compendium volumes on topics like bedside ultrasound or the state-of-the-art in oncology research, comprised of a series of semi-independent chapters written by different doctors. I also index technical books, e.g. on grounding and bonding of electrical circuits; scholarly monographs, e.g. the political history of the Uyghurs in China, or the ecology of European cork oak savannas; as well as an assortment of trade non-fiction books.
